About Cormac Fitzpatrick

Graduated from Trinity College Dublin with an MPhil. in Music and Media Technologies, which included studies in Psychoacoustics, Contemporary and Electroacoustic Composition, Audio Engineering and Spatial Audio, Visual Music, Max/MSP, and Unity. My Master's thesis,'Enactive Timbre', addressed the embodied nature of timbre perception, utilising FOF synthesis in Csound as the investigative environment. I am primarily a sound artist, with a wide stylistic range in both acoustic and electronic formats. I produce experimental electronic music that covers ambient, electroacoustic composition, and IDM, as well as jazz, rock and contemporary classical. I have many sound design projects under my belt and hope to continue to provide my skill and expertise to exciting new works. I am a guitarist and classically trained pianist with a number of years of teaching experience behind me. I am also a visual artist, composing glitchy, digitally distorted images and videos that have a strong connection to my music. One way to describe my visual art would be maximalist minimalism - I often use badly taken photos or images without much visual stimuli, and use different distortion techniques to maximalise the subtle variations that are present in the image, such as colours, geometries and patterns. I currently work for HCL Tech, contracted to LinkedIn, as an AV technician, providing remote and on-site support for video conferencing rooms, equipment and events in EMEA. My many years of experience in hospitality and sales include Waiting staff at Featherblade Dublin, Service Supervisor and Head Barista at DALUMA Ku'damm in Berlin, Sales Representative for a Zurich-based tech start-up, whiskey expert and tasting guide, and sales assistant at Diesel.
