About Cory Mello

Currently, I have been working as a construction estimator for my families small business having done so since graduating high school in 2016. My job is to prepare proposals by analyzing labor and materials per job specifications to provide accurate cost estimations for each individual project. Most recently, I had an opportunity to work with Fidelity Investments in Merrimack, NH as a Financial Customer Associate responding to inquiries regarding customer account options regarding withdrawals, transfer funds, and loan availability options. Operating with a customer service mindset, I was able to truly understand what a customer is looking for from one of the largest financial firms in the world. My educational journey began directly after the "meme" stock craze in early 2020 notably with Doegecoin and stocks such as Gamestop and AMC. Analytical by nature, I was determined to research what made a company worth investing in and why. I quickly enrolled at the University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth to further educate myself by learning proper investment analysis methods to uncover particular reasons to invest and not gamble. As of September 2023, I am now attending the university of Massachusetts, Amherst to further enhance my capabilities with the same goal-oriented mindset I had when I started my journey with a focus on becoming an equity research analysis or similar roles with a long-term focus to one day become a portfolio manager. Outside of work and school, I am a passionate hockey fan having had the opportunity of playing since I was a kid competitively through high school. I am a big fan of reading financial books such as some of my personal favorites including "One Up On Wall Street" by Peter Lynch, as well as "The Intelligent Investor" by Benjamin Graham. Always keen to learn new investment strategies, I find myself consistently picking up various books from all types of investors to learn new ideas I wouldn't have thought of otherwise.
