About Cory Owen

There are two big things I love about project management—and both are all about connection. 1.) I get to be part of every step in the project lifecycle and collaborate with each one of the brilliant individuals involved in the process. I help clients pinpoint the solutions that will deliver their desired outcomes. Then, I work with BAs and UX experts to define the scope and requirements. Next, I assist our designers and developers as they bring that vision to life, problem-solving to remove obstacles along the way. Finally, I get to present that work to the client, release it into the world, and gather performance data to illustrate the value we brought to both the business and customers. 2.) Project managers get to see the forest AND the trees. I’m able to discuss long-term strategies with our stakeholders and then pivot to work side-by-side with our team on the details of an individual project. I get to focus not only on how a feature operates on the back end, but also on how it is experienced in the real world by an end user. The opportunity to straddle those lines makes every project more complex and compelling. I didn’t set out to be a project manager. I started my career in marketing communications as a copywriter with a passion for storytelling. Soon I found myself shepherding the projects for which I was writing from concept to delivery. As I moved into project management full time, I feel in love with the fast pace and the way each day brings new challenges. I found that I have a knack for improving processes and that I have an analytical side that gets excited by budgets, spreadsheets, and data. When the opportunity arose to join Magnetic Mobile’s team, I jumped at the chance to take those talents to the next level. I still love working on creative campaigns and I get plenty of opportunities to put my writing/editing talents to work for Magnetic’s clients. But by adding a wide range of technical projects to my plate, I’ve expanded my toolbelt to help businesses tell their brand story in new ways.
