About Cory Peters

My qualifications include an Interprovincial Journeyman Electrician Certificate (Red Seal and Blue Seal) and Certified Master Electrician. Also, a wide range of experience in the electrical trade. I have also completed multiple technical courses ranging from Switchgear Maintenance/Commissioning to Substation Construction, and all required safety certificates. Working on large industrial construction and turnaround projects at Suncor, CNRL Horizon, Shell Scotford Refinery and NWR Sturgeon Refinery and a 250 kV electrical substation has given me experience in most aspects of the trade. I have also gained a very good knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code and current industry standards. I work hard and take pride in doing my work safely and to a high quality standard. Always eager to learn more, I have become competent in many different areas, from PLC’s and VFD’s, to high-voltage work to low-voltage instrumentation. This includes extensive experience working at heights and some experience installing electrical systems in confined spaces. I enjoy a good challenge, and work well under pressure to complete work on schedule. Most importantly, I am very safety oriented, and have never had a lost-time incident. This is because I follow the safety rules, take appropriate safety precautions and watch out for both myself and others. I also work well in a team, and get along well with my co-workers and supervisors. My people skills resulted in being promoted to Foreman and Lead Hand, which gave me experience in planning and supervising jobs. This required being organized, thinking ahead and solving problems on the fly to make sure everything was finished on time.
