Background
About Cosette Scott
I received a bachelor of science degree in marine biology with a minors in Spanish and public health. I am currently working in the health care industry as a Clinical Research Assistant where I work alongside doctors and other research assistants to help keep Boston Children's up to date on all the current research happening in the world. Currently I work on both industry and hospital funded projects. This means not only do i work alongside the doctors to help them do in-house prospective and retrospective work as well as Quality Improvement projects using the hospital’s patient population, I also assist certain doctors with clinical trials on all types of drugs for all types or diseases with patients of all age ranges. Therefore, I act as a liaison between the hospital and pharmaceutical companies. I am currently looking in furthering my education and obtaining a Masters in Public health, hopefully epidemiology. I am very interested in Global and community health as well as communicable and non-communicable diseases with in these two groups. I have years of experience working in a leadership role as well as working on a team. I traveled to Anconcito, Ecuador in May 2017 for a week to assist in clinics and at after day care programs where I learnt how to interact with communities closely and learnt that local communities can be the key to a successful project as well as reinforcing my Spanish. I have learned how to compromise with others, assert myself when necessary, work well with others, and see the bigger picture not just my ideas. I can navigate Microsoft Excel, Word, RedCap, and many other data programs. I learned how to deal with people and customers in an appropriate, respectful, and with a professional demeanor. I believe that all my experiences past and present make me an excellent employee. Through Boston Children's Hospital, I was able to receive training which now allows, me to preform clinical and research fibroscans which essentially are scans of the liver preformed in order to give doctors an idea of the fibrosis of a liver in order to hopefully not do a biopsy. Through Children's i have gained many new experiences and skills that I plan to carry over into my next steps in life.
