About Craig Carr

As an accomplished leader and dedicated professional in the fire service, I currently hold the role of Chief Officer in a dynamic all-hazards Fire Department, dedicated to serving a vibrant community of over residents. With the diligent support of our team of 427 dedicated professionals across 15 Fire Stations, we effectively manage a call volume of over annually. My journey in this field is marked by various key roles, evolving from Firefighter to Firefighter-Paramedic, Sergeant, Lieutenant, Captain, District Fire Chief, and finally Assistant Fire Chief. This diverse range of experiences has been instrumental in honing my leadership and crisis management skills. I hold an Associate's Degree in Fire Science, a Bachelor's Degree in Fire Administration, and am currently finishing up a Master's Degree in Public Administration at Liberty University! In addition to being a nationally registered and licensed Paramedic, I hold qualifications as an Executive Fire Officer, Firefighter I & II, Fire Officer I & II, Fire Instructor I & II, Rescue Technician, HazMat Tech, US & R Team Officer (Planning) for AL TF-4, and GIS Specialist. I have also been privileged to instruct in CPR, PALS, and ACLS. My leadership was particularly tested and proven during the challenging period of the 2020/21 Coronavirus Pandemic. Serving as the Infection Control Officer for both the department and the city. My strong communication skills have been invaluable in reaching and inspiring various audiences and groups. As a passionate believer in the mission of my organization, I take immense pride in being a leader in the fire service and am committed to the continuous development of junior leaders. I currently serve on the CPSE Steering Committee for the 11th edition FESSAM. In my present role, I am entrusted with the responsibility of Accreditation Manager for Montgomery Fire Rescue, effectively managing ISO requirements. In my command as the leader of the Division of Standards & Compliance, we are proud to have achieved ISO Class 1 agency status, accreditation through the Commission on Accreditation of Ambulance Services (CAAS), and international accreditation through the Center for Public Safety Excellence!
