About Craig Feied

Dr. Feied is Chief Science Officer for Whispersom Corporation and managing Director of Asatte LLC, an R&D company focusing on data acquisition, integration, analysis, and representation, particularly in the areas of clinical informatics and intelligent medical devices. He was formerly Chief Health Strategy Officer for Microsoft HSG. He is Professor of Emergency Medicine in the Georgetown University School of Medicine, and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Clinical Informatics / American Board of Preventative Medicine and the American Board of Emergency Medicine. He is a fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians, a fellow of the American Academy of Emergency Medicine, and a fellow of the American College of Phlebology. He graduated in 1978 from the University of California, Berkeley with an AB degree in Biophysics, received an M.D. degree in 1982 from the University of California, San Diego, and served an internship in Internal Medicine at the University of Hawaii. He completed a residency in emergency medicine at Georgetown University, George Washington University, and the Maryland Shock-Trauma Institute, a fellowship in toxicology informatics at the National Capital Poison Center (Georgetown University), and received training in hyperbaric medicine at the Memorial Medical Center of Long Beach, California. He was a member of the faculty at George Washington University before joining MedStar Health and Georgetown University. Dr. Feied was Founding Director of the ER One Institutes for Innovation in Medicine in Washington, DC, comprising the Institute for Medical Informatics, the Institute for Public Health and Emergency Readiness, the Center for Biologic Counterterrorism and Emerging Diseases, the Medical Media Lab, the Simulation and Training Environment Lab, the Institute for Nursing Innovation, and the ER One Design Institute. Dr. Feied has directed more than 100 technology projects in medical informatics. He has published more than 100 papers and textbook chapters in the areas of biomedical informatics, Emergency Medicine, and venous thromboembolic disease, including a comprehensive textbook of venous medicine, and has presented more than 250 invited lectures on medical informatics, medical technology, thromboembolic disease, and Emergency Medicine. Dr. Feied is committed to the improvement of medical practice through the application of medical informatics to increase the rate of innovation in medicine.
