With over 40 years of experience as a physician assistant, I have gained valuable expertise in various clinical and hospital settings.Throughout my career, I have encountered diverse medical challenges that have allowed me to develop a wide range of skills. For instance, I began my journey working as the sole healthcare provider in Dutch Harbor, AK, located in the Aleutian Island chain. Operating as the only medical facility within a 400-mile radius by air, I managed a high injury/trauma region due to the hazardous nature of fishing in the Bering Sea. This role demanded versatility, as I addressed medical needs ranging from dentistry and veterinary care to radiology and orthopedics. Additionally, I often accompanied emergency crews to provide immediate treatment upon arrival.In more recent years, I have dedicated my efforts to managing chronic and primary care patients within the Nephrology department at the prestigious Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. However, seeking a change in career path, I have spent the last eight years specializing in Oncology, specifically lung cancer. This transition has allowed me to contribute significantly to the field and further expand my medical knowledge and expertise.Beyond my clinical work, I have actively engaged in the healthcare community, making notable contributions. I have published several articles, participated in various programs, and conducted my own research. Notably, I was honored with the 2015 Application of the Year award from the International System Dynamic Society for developing the groundbreaking Biological System Dynamic Model. This innovative model individualizes anemia management based on a biological process, revolutionizing patient care.With a highly accomplished career behind me, I am now seeking new challenges, connections with likeminded professionals, and opportunities to contribute my extensive medical expertise. Specifically, I am interested in positions within internal medicine, Oncology, Nephrology, Emergency, or Urgent Care.
