About Craig Jakes
I hold a PhD in Chemical Engineering and Bioprocessing, a Masters in Biotechnology and a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology. All of these degrees were achieved from the University College of Dublin (UCD). My PhD thesis specialised on analytical characterisation of biotherapeutics using liquid chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry. While I was registered in UCD I worked in the National Institute of Bioprocessing Research and Training (NIBRT). I have worked in NIBRT since 2016 as a member of the Characterisation and Comparability Laboratory (CCL). The project I worked on is a collaboration between NIBRT and Thermo Fisher Scientific and the aim of which is similar to that of my PhD thesis. Since graduation I have continued to work in NIBRT as a Research Scientist and have been involved in the production of mRNA for LC-MS characterisation.
