About Craig Porter

I believe a project that is set up well at the beginning has a greater chance of successful completion in terms of time and cost of project completion. The better a project is set up with the right processes, procedures and personnel equipped with the necessary skills to complete their jobs, the less problems a project will experience in communication, delay, errors, and ultimately, cost. I am passionate about training and equipping people to better understand their role, how it fits into the overarching project and how to do it efficiently, not only for the benefit of the client, but for all who work on the projects. When people understand what they are building they build it better. This is why I started SYNC Data and Management Services. Working effectively with engineers and project managers – both on the client and the construction company side – I understand the unique needs of each project and what the project managers require. With this understanding I create process and procedure documents for traceability requirements and training of on-site surveyors to ensure the survey team are equipped, and the right structures are in place from the outset for timely and efficient project delivery. With 40+ years of experience in Land Development, Boundary, Highways, Earthworks, and Control Network Surveys, I have overseen the successful completion of multi-million dollar greenfield and brownfield projects including road works, gas processing plants, dams and airport runways throughout Australia, Western Samoa, and Vanuatu. Working on SANTOS, Origin and QGC sites, I managed 25 surveyors across several multi-million-dollar projects over 5 years to see the development of major earthworks and infrastructure for gas processing plants in the Surat Basin.
