About Craig Render

In his role as eLearning specialist, Craig has the ability to transcend a cross section of groups within a schooling environment to deliver quality teaching and learning. He has worked with BOT’s and senior leadership teams to develop eLearning visions that put learning first. He enjoys working with a wide range of teachers to upskill and inspire confidence with eLearning technologies. Craig started teaching at Manurewa High School in 2007 as a Health and Physical Education Teacher, quickly progressing into the role of ICT lead teacher, where he provided PLD to the Health and PE department around curriculum development and ICT. After roles in leading Peer Support and Deaning he then moved into the role of Specialist Classroom Teacher, in this role he worked with teachers to implement critical thinking into teaching and planning to improve student achievement. Craig also has a passion for culturally responsive practice, which empowered him to develop school wide reflective practices though combining Kia Eke Panuku and Teaching as Inquiry. The success of this was also due to the consultion with Iwi and the community to meet their needs. Craig believes that every student should have equal access to technology in the classroom and at home. Relationship building through collaboration is key in Craig’s view. Craig ensured successful eLearning and BYOD implementation into the largest low decile school in New Zealand through collaboration with the use of Teaching as Inquiry, and organised professional development. It was also through collaboration with technology companies, finance institutions, the Ministry or Education, Whanau, Board of Trustees, teachers and students he implemented a suitable and cost effective BYOD programme. Craig is also a Microsoft Innovative Educator – Expert, Microsoft Education Trainer, Ministry of Education Accredited Facilitator and Minecraft Trainer
