About Craig Wheeler

I am a dedicated and hardworking professional with over 10 years of experience working with vulnerable populations in a variety of different capacities, including counseling, case management, and crisis management. As the Assistant Coordinator of Secure Treatment at the Roberts/Smart Centre, I am responsible for the operations of the Secure Treatment Program and participate in decision-making, representing the Secure Treatment program to senior leadership. I am also responsible for the implementation of treatment and planning for all clients, ensuring the establishment and maintenance of therapeutic relationships between staff and clients. I am also the co-founder of Secondhand Stories Bookshop and Microsanctuary, a non-profit organization that rescues and provides a lifelong home for farmed animals that have been abused, neglected, or are no longer wanted by the agriculture industry. Prior to my current role, I worked as a Youth Counsellor at the Roberts/Smart Centre, where I assisted in the admission, transfer, assessment, and treatment of clients, provided counseling using a collaborative and proactive solutions approach, and facilitated physical, recreational, social activities, and adolescent skill development programs using the CPS model. I also have experience as a Housing and Community Support Worker at Options Bytown Non-Profit Housing, a Case Manager on the Housing Response Team at The Salvation Army, an On-Site Support Worker at A Different Street Housing Program, and a Child and Youth Worker at Terrace Youth Residential Services. Throughout my career, I have demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills, and a commitment to helping others. I am passionate about making a positive impact in the lives of vulnerable populations and am dedicated to continuously developing my skills and expertise to better serve my clients.
