About Crispim Borges da Ponte

Since my youth I am interested in mechanical engineering. My inspiration was Motorsports which is magical for any child with its adrenaline and superb noise that sounds like music. However, once start studying you realize that it is much more, you learn a tremendous bag of tools that you can apply in a huge world.This passion was and will always be shared with practicing sports where you learn different and also very important skills. In sports there are no rich nor poor, just a team you have to work with or an opponent you have to fight to accomplish your objectives. This way I consider myself a very proactive and focused person who learns and develops his skills in every moment.Despite of my youth passion, I searched a real work for my final project and together with EDA S.A. and MIT-Portugal we developed a study about the energy management in São Miguel Island, Azores in order to build a Reversible Hydro-Power Plant. It was a great opportunity to start applying in real life all the knowledge studied so far.Nevertheless, I still believed to have an experience in the car industry. In 2013 I started my first job at Volkswagen AG in Wolfsburg. It was very important in my career, not only because I accomplished my dream, but also I was going to work abroad in a great company and country on this branch. Besides engineering, it was also a life school. I had the opportunity to work on management in development and I was happy to learn the German language.After 2 years, I had the opportunity to work at the Power Plant in São Miguel Island, where I used my engineering and management skills. I was closer to the engines and energy production. Gladly after 2 years I was invited to be the Head of Maintenance of 4 Thermal Power Plants in 4 Azores Islands. The responsibility is growing and at this experience I am learning new skills since engineering, management, human resources, leadership and much more. It is an on going challenge that is preparing myself to the next level.
