About Cristi King

I started my journey at BCBSAZ more than 20 years ago working in Distribution Services hand delivering mail and running the packaging machines. I got my foot in the door! This was my first step in networking and a stepping stone to understanding the complexities and importance of each department in our company. Over the years I managed to work my way from Distribution Services to servicing customers in our Corporate Health Services Department, and a year later, supervising that department. Once I gained the knowledge and experience of management I wanted to learn what happens behind the scenes. I needed to know why and how everything worked, so I went from the business and crossed over to Information Technology (IT). I wore many hats while working in IT and vastly expanded my knowledge. After gaining the experience of management, the knowledge of our business processes and understanding the backend and architecture of our systems, I knew the Product Owner position would be a perfect fit! My business and management experience makes it easy for prioritization and communication, and my IT experience enables me to effectively document requirements and acceptance criteria in our backlog where each role, from the developer to the business analysts, can understand. This has been an amazing journey and I can’t wait to see what I can accomplish over the next 20 years!
