About Cristina Formichelli

I'm Cristina Formichelli, a young professional passionate about organization, content creation and perfection (or being as near to it as I can). I am the journals administrator at ASM International in Materials Park (Novelty), Ohio. In my role, I provide editorial and administrative support in the acquisition, tracking and processing of content for the ASM technical journals. In my nearly three years at ASM, I have learned so much about scholarly publishing, engaging with enthusiastic editorial board members from around the world and always working on new projects no one else seems to want to do, but invigorate me. I graduated from Ohio University's E. W. Scripps School of Journalism with a minor in communication studies and a certificate in diversity studies. During my Covid-ridden college experience, I worked as a freelance writer and an editorial intern for Cleveland Magazine. As an editorial intern for Cleveland Magazine, my experiences interviewing, writing and fact-checking made me realize my passion for magazine-style writing, reporting and editing. My copy chief position for Thread Magazine, a fashion and culture magazine at Ohio U, was a fun way for me to practice my AP Style and editing skills daily while working for a publication I was passionate about. I spent my senior capstone serving as the managing editor of Southeast Ohio Magazine, where I honed my organizational, management and delegation skills by working directly with every individual on staff, keeping them on-task, on-deadline and encouraging workflow. My superiors, colleagues and friends describe me as passionate, detail-oriented, hardworking, full of energy, enthusiastic and great at connecting with others. I am not afraid of a challenge and always ask if there is anything extra I can do to help. I am always open to work in communications, copy editing and freelancing in the Cleveland area. I love interviewing and writing because there is always something new to discover and a story to tell, and I enjoy being the one learning and telling those stories.
