About Crystal Curfman Shaw

Crystal Curfman Shaw is a conservation leader and the Chief Operating Officer of the Max McGraw Wildlife Foundation, a 501(c)3 organization dedicated to wildlife research, conservation education and communication, hunting, fishing, and land management. She oversees the daily operations of the foundation, including conservation education and hunter safety programs, development, grants, membership, hospitality, finance, accounting, human resources, IT, security, maintenance and facilities. She also serves as LLC manager for two giant screen films, a board member and assistant treasurer of the foundation, and participates in various committees related to executive, membership, development, and investment matters.Prior to joining the Max McGraw Wildlife Foundation, Crystal was the Executive Director and CEO of the Illinois Conservation Foundation, the private funding arm of the Illinois Department of Natural Resources, where she led the mission of preserving and enhancing the natural and cultural heritage of Illinois by fostering and supporting ecological, educational, and outdoor recreational programs. She has a strong background in strategy, executive management, fundraising and operations, as well as a passion for conservation and sustainability. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Human Environmental Science from the University of Missouri-Columbia, and completed the Conservation Leaders for Tomorrow program in 2020. Crystal is also an active volunteer and board member of several nonprofit conservation and community organizations. She is on the Education Committee for the Association of Fish and Wildlife, is VP and Founding Board Member of the Annie Oakley Shooters of Northern Illinois, volunteer for the Chicago Downtown Chapter of Ducks Unlimited, and co-founder of Shane's Anglers benefitting Cal's Angels. She also supports the Ruffed Grouse Society, Trout Unlimited, the Audubon Society, the National Shooting Sports Association and Elite Veteran Outfitters.
