About Crystal Hamel

I have an extensive background in Health & Human Services. I worked as a HEAP clerk & then accepted a position with Maximus, where I educated and enrolled consumers into a managed care plan that would best suit their needs. I held that position for seven years, to later accept a promotion as CNY District Supervisor. I managed 13 staff members, in different counties. I reviewed job applications, conducted interviews, as well as new hire trainings. I was responsible for all field audits of my staff, and acted as a liaison between my employees and the site supervisors. As a Supervisor, I was responsible for making sure the contractual needs were met by the NYSDOH. I later worked for Upstate Orthopedic Surgery Center, where I was a Medical Receptionist. I excelled there, accepting many more responsibilities that led me to pursue my career in Health Services Administration. I accepted a position with Change Health Care, which later became Optum/ United Health Group. From working there, my knowledge of medical billing and coding expanded. My employment with them ended due to Optum ending all contracted employees contracts.
