About Crystal Hendriks

Crystal (she/they pronouns) brings extensive experience in instruction, health promotion, and healthcare recruiting to her role as Youth Educator for the Department of Public Health (DPH). With a background in K-12 math and literacy tutoring and degrees in public health and healthcare administration, she is a creative and collaborative leader dedicated to improving health outcomes for communities most affected by health disparities. At WittKieffer, an executive search firm, she enjoyed recruiting hospital and clinic administrators, helping them find roles where they could make a meaningful impact. Throughout her career, Crystal has been deeply committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives that foster inclusion, awareness, and celebratory workplaces. Prior to recruiting, she held roles at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles in General Pediatrics and UCEDD (Community Mental Health Clinic), and promoted heart health with the American Heart Association. While at the hospital, she focused on quality assurance for electronic health records, particularly for patients with developmental disabilities and mental health needs. Advocacy for LGBTQ+ rights for Black and Brown communities remains central to her work and inspires her passion for the Youth Educator role.In her free time, Crystal enjoys making music by playing the saxophone and singing, with a love for musical theater, salsa or bachata, and Afro-beats. With her island ancestry, she also loves spending time at the beach, soaking up the sun, and swimming in the ocean or pool.
