About Crystal Lewis

My career in higher education and the Louisiana legislature, along with my volunteer experiences have fueled my passion for organizational leadership. Additionally, they have enhanced my academic introspect and critical approach in organization strategy. The education I gained at Louisiana State University, with a major in Political Science contributed to my academic thought of politics, providing a foundation for the development of analytical skills and progressive thinking. Additionally, the education I gained at Liberty University, with a major in Public Policy enhanced my academic thought of policy-making, providing for an understanding of ethical practices in public administration. So, “Why a change in careers?” I fear that in this cover letter, I will not be able to provide the due diligence that this question deserves. So, to simplify my thoughts, my passion is… to go. Go where your work challenges you intellectually and personally. Go, go where I can build upon the pride that I already have for this state. Go, go where through a simple introduction shows the world that they too should visit Louisiana. Go, go where I can make my state, my colleagues, and the generations to come proud that someone like me has succeeded; giving hope to others. Go, go where I can influence organizational behaviors. Go, go where I can show others that Louisiana is committed to diversity. As a student in the Masters of Arts program for Public Policy at Liberty University, I gained the research skills to analyze behavior and public policies. I analyzed community involvement and governmental disconnect, from a theoretical and statistical standpoint. The skills I gained are notable qualities that I apply to my work and studies. Additionally, I remain an active member in my community, serving in small groups at my church and several service-base community organizations. As an applicant to new positions, I am one among many candidates who acknowledges the importance of the work ahead. Moreover, I will attest that I am one of the few committed to not only meet expectations but to exceed them. In recognizing my ethnicity, my academic progression, continuous community involvement, work experiences, and strong regard for helping others, I have been equipped with the passion, knowledge and determination to pursue future opportunities and vow to devote myself to the success of an organization.
