Strong education professional with a Master’s Degree focused in Educational Leadership. Recent feedback via email September 2020 (colleagues husband): Dear Cushla, I have never meet you, but I feel like you are a highly valued part of my family! Let me explain: For years I have been a student of what makes a great leader. And there are so many differing theories - goal driven, number cruncher, visionary, fearless, courageous, strategic thinker, planner, team builder, a dreamer. I guess a leader might need parts of these. It wasn’t until 1995 that someone suggested what should have been perfectly obvious: great leaders aren’t those with head smarts, but of far greater importance, it’s those with heart smarts (emotional intelligence). But some teachers are highly blessed, even spoilt, because they have a Cushla. You are an incredible leader. For the past year there has not been a school week that’s gone by when Kaye hasn’t mentioned and discussed you. And as she has shared her interactions with you, I have discovered an amazing insight: great leaders bring enormous energy into their educational interactions, so their teachers have the energy and aspiration to be what they were called to be: their very, very best. What enables a teacher to a 6 cylinder teacher? Easy. you need to have Cushla. You are definitely that person! The energy and revitalisation you constantly bring to Kaye is a treasured gift for her. and me. When she talks of you the energy bubbles out spontaneously; her eyes sparkle, her face smiles, her tone softens, her teaching dreams are restored. Your obvious love for people; your generosity of heart in giving not just your ears, but your eyes when problems arise; your willingness to be available and to listen; your quick words of affirmation and belief; your amazing loyal support; your gentleness and kindness; your courage and strength. You are an incredible leader. The Best. Your energy brings life; Your energy brings joy; Your energy brings transformation. I witness it every teaching week! I am truly grateful for your life and leadership. You are a leader extraordinaire. With gratitude, Ian McKean
