30 years in the Mental Health industry with experience in crisis intervention, emergency room assessments, utilization management, and screening for admission to all levels of care. Excellent working knowledge of psychiatric diagnoses, medications, general medical conditions, level of care assessments, and all aspects of the medical record. Possesses a complete knowledge of mental health law and represents a large psychiatric facility at the involuntary admission hearings. Strong patient advocate currently writing and editing medical necessity appeals of patient care denied by insurance. Promoted to Utilization Review Manager supervising case managers, coordinating involuntary admissions process, department schedules, appeals, and back-up to department director. Served as liaison between Finance Department and Managed Care Organizations reviewing denied claims for authorization, contacting managed care case managers and fixing authorization errors, often recapturing denied days without the necessity of appeal. Strong interpersonal skills serving as liaison among multiple internal departments, disciplines, and community agencies to include managed care organizations, community healthcare providers, Department of Mental Health and Hygiene and the Office of Administrative Hearings-Long history of dedication and loyalty to present employer with over 23 years of service to the same organization and has humbly received over 30 years of evaluations in the outstanding category.
