About Cynthia Howells

Cynthia is a Senior Wealth Advisor at Schwab Wealth Advisory, Inc, a Registered Investment Advisor (RIA) and affiliate of Charles Schwab & Co, Inc. Her mission is to advance her client's financial goals using her expertise, knowledge, compassion, and integrity. Cynthia is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional and a Certified Financial Analyst (CFA®) charter holder. She is registered with FINRA Series 7 (to sell investments), Series 66 (to provide investment advice), and as a New York State Insurance Agent (to sell insurance products). Prior to Schwab, Cynthia was a Financial Advisor at Equitable Advisors, building her own financial planning practice; a Financial Planning Analyst at Capital Management Group of New York, a boutique planning firm through Equitable Advisors; and a Client Relationship Manager in Ivy Menchel's (CFP, CBEC, CDFA) Private Wealth Services practice at Sagemark Consulting, a division of Lincoln Financial. Cynthia has vast experience in Financial Services. Before she pivoted to financial advising, Cynthia was a bond analyst and commercial banker for 18 years. At Fitch Ratings, the bond rating agency, she was a Director in the Global Infrastructure and Project Finance Group, evaluating fossil and renewable energy projects for investors. Cynthia spent the bulk of her early career as a banker at BNY Mellon where she was a Vice President in the Corporate Client Management Division, managing a loan portfolio of electric and oil & gas clients that totaled just under one billion dollars. Cynthia earned her BA in English Literature at Columbia College, and an MA in Finance and Banking at the School of International and Public Affairs, both at Columbia University in New York. She has two children in college, a staggeringly handsome boyfriend, and lives in Brooklyn.
