Most courts are still accepting submission of agreed retirement plan division orders during the court lockdown period. I draft Qualified Domestic Relations Orders ("QDRO's"), Qualified Illinois Domestic Relations Orders ("QILDRO's"), Railroad Retirement, FERS, CSRS, Thrift Savings Plan and other orders to divide retirement plan benefits for other attorneys and/or their clients. Prior to attending law school, I worked for a benefit consulting firm in the northern suburbs of Chicago, and learned the ins and outs of ERISA. I became the point person in the retirement customer service area to review the QDRO's sent in by attorneys, then forward them to the legal department for a formal review. That means I know what it takes to get those orders entered to properly divide retirement benefits in a divorce.
