I am currently Advisor and Senior Personnel Manager at the Independent Evaluation Office of the IMF. I have over 35 years of working experience, variously at managerial and Board level, in private sector banking, financial sector regulation, in international institutions, in academia, national government and in private consulting. Previous positions have included: Managing Director of Cetaworld, an independent consulting practice (2004-2018); Director: Economic Affairs Division at the Commonwealth Secretariat in London.(Jan. 2009- June 2014); Chairperson, Financial Services Board (regulator of the non-bank financial sector in South Africa)(2003-2008); Chairperson, Policy Board for Financial Services and Regulation (2004 -2008); Head: G-20 Secretariat, National Treasury (2007), during South Africa’s term as Chair of the G-20 Chair; Member, Standing Committee for the Revision of the Banks Act, South African Reserve Bank (2005-2008); Executive Director and Alternate Executive Director, International Monetary Fund (1998 – 2002); Advisor to Executive Director, World Bank Group (1996 – 1998); Advisor to the Deputy Minister of Finance, South Africa (1994-1996) and Technical Advisor to Constitutional Theme Committee on Finance (1995-1996); Various academia and research (Universities in UK and South Africa)(1990 – 1994); Corporate Banking including Manager: Project Finance (Citibank, First National Bank (South Africa)(1984 – 1990).
