About D. W. Stratton

Since January 2018 I have been working as the sole dosimetrist and on-site physicist at a free-standing clinic in Queens, NY. We treat between 30 and 40 patients daily and I am responsible for 100% of the treatment plans. I do all the quality assurance for the linac and the CT simulator, and I was involved in the acceptance and commissioning for all of the equipment at this unit. As such, I have seen a good deal more in my two years of experience than some dosimetrists see in 10 years. I am a great planner, I know when to shut up and keep my head down to get my work done and stay ahead of the game, and I am a great team player capable of empathy and understanding in a work-appropriate manner. I am proficient in treatment planning in Eclipse, Monaco, Oncentra, and RayStation treatment planning systems. I learn new computer systems extremely quickly. I realize it is trite for people to say they are fast learners these days. I learn so quickly that within a week I am typically teaching my instructor new shortcuts and strategies to save time and streamline their workflow. I am no slouch. I'm looking for work with a winning healthcare team, ideally one affiliated with a teaching hospital so that there would be an opportunity to work with RTOG protocols, participate in research, and help advance the standard of care in the field of radiation/oncology. In the final analysis, I don't want to be just a button-pusher or planner, I want to make a difference for my patients and for healthcare in our nation!
