About Daan Spoormans

I specialise in (international) contract law and corporate law. My focus is on complex contractual disputes, for which internationally operating companies, insurers and law firms often engage me because of my bilingual background (Dutch and German). I advise and assist German-speaking clients in cross-border activities. I also assist directors and supervisory directors who are accused of improper management or supervision. I have secured dozens of directors and supervisory directors, while it has not yet happened that a director or supervisory director has been ordered by a court to pay a claim against which I defended. E Some examples of cases handled by me include-successfully holding a director and a de facto manager of a company dealing in luxury yachts liable as a creditor in two instances on behalf of a German bankruptcy trustee-successfully representing a German listed company building biogas plants for third parties in a dispute with its former in-house supplier of (many dozens of) roofs for those biogas plants-successfully defending in two instances on behalf of former directors of an educational establishment which was accused of entering into a large new building project. I work both on behalf of insurers and on behalf of directors and supervisory directors themselves. My approach combines legal and strategic insight and I take a thorough, cost-conscious approach that is both substantive and personal. The focus of my analysis is as much on the interests of the parties involved as on the (legal) positions these parties take or can take.
