About Dafeng Hui
Dr. Dafeng Hui is Professor in the Department of Biological Sciences at Tennessee State University, Nashville, TN, USA. He received his Ph.D. degree in botany with an emphasis on ecology from the University of Oklahoma and the M.S. degree in agronomy with an emphasis in bio-statistics and genetics from Yangzhou University, China. His research interests lie in the broad area of plant ecology, global change ecology, ecosystem ecology, ecological modeling, and eco-informatics. Specifically, his research focuses on the following areas:(1) climate change effects on carbon, nitrogen, and water cycling in terrestrial ecosystems such as grasslands, forests, and croplands,(2) the effects of agricultural practices on crop productivity and greenhouse gases (such as CO2 and N2O) emissions,(3) simulation of ecosystem carbon, nitrogen, and water cycling using ecological models, and (4) data syntheses on biomass partition, litter decomposition, stoichiometry of C, N and P in terrestrial ecosystems. Hui has published one book, several book chapters and more than 70 papers in scientific journals such as Nature, Global Change Biology, Plant and Soil, New Phytologist, and Tree Physiology. He has reviewed manuscripts for more than 25 journals, proposals for the NSF, DOE, and other funding agencies, and serves on the NSF proposal review panels. He also serves as associate/academic editor for PLoSOne and The Crop Journal, and on editorial boards of several journals. Hui's research has been sponsored by the US Department of Energy, USDA, and the NSF.
