About Dagmar Henner

I am working as a researcher at the University of Graz, Wegener Center for Climate and Global Change, researching sustainable system solutions for climate change mitigation and adaptation. I am looking into increased drought and heat and how these impact soil security and water availability for plants. All this with a focus on the Raab catchment in Austria but upscalable to Europe. In 2019, I finished my Ph.D. thesis at the University of Aberdeen. My Ph.D. research in Aberdeen was about second-generation bioenergy crops and their potential impacts on ecosystem services. I am also modelling potential yields in Europe and how policy is related to the sustainable supply of bioenergy. I am putting some emphasis on synergetic uses of second-generation bioenergy crops with respect to soil carbon increase and erosion reduction from agricultural soils. This is brought into context with climate change. I am a highly motivated professional with in-depth knowledge of marketing, public relations and project management principles who possesses significant experience in these fields. My key strengths include: •commercial and business awareness •strategic analysis and report writing •creative thinking coupled with a logical approach to work and the flexibility needed to reach positive solutions •strong team-working ability and excellent communication and network as well as presentation skills. This experience is coupled with knowledge about research, environmental modeling, environmental science, ecology, climate change, forestry, sustainability, policy, and related fields. My strength is to see the whole picture, the scientific knowledge, and facts but also the promotion part where scientific facts are made available for the wider public.
