About Daisy Castillo

I am a bilingual clinician and Senior Research Coordinator at UT Health San Antonio, dedicated to providing culturally responsive mental health care and advancing research in brain health and aging. I hold a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and a certificate in Bilingual Counseling from The University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA), and I am currently pursuing licensure as a professional counselor. As a clinician, I use a person-centered, Cognitive Behavioral, and Solution-Focused approach to support clients in building on their strengths, managing stress, and navigating life’s transitions. During my clinical training, I provided counseling to individuals and caregivers impacted by Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease—populations I continue to serve with empathy and intention. In my research role, I support the Metformin in Alzheimer’s Dementia Prevention (MAP) study, contributing to clinical trials that explore innovative ways to address cognitive decline. I am passionate about improving access to mental health care for Spanish-speaking and underserved communities and strive to create therapeutic spaces that honor identity, culture, and lived experience.
