Professional expertise: • Educated in Biological Health Science with specialisation Clinical Nutrition. • Training in bacteriology, resulting in registration as Medical Microbiological Researcher. • Knowledge of epidemiology, pathophysiology and baseline clinical characteristics of several gastro-intestinal and liver diseases (including e.g. gastric/duodenal ulcers, gastritis, gastric adenocarcinoma, gastric MALT lymphomas, colorectal cancer, inflammatory bowel diseases, irritable bowel syndrome, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease and liver cirrhosis) • Expertise in lab analyses, including e.g.(immune)histochemistry and histological evaluations, DNA/RNA isolation, real-time PCR, Elisa’s, Westerns blotting, cell culture (2D/3D), organoid culture, bacterial culture, denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis, sequencing. Heading the lab of Gastroenterology and involved in the development of new tools, such as 3D cell and organoid cultures and Ussing chamber experiments.
