About Daisy Linge

In 2022 I completed my degree in English Language and Linguistics at the University of Kent, where I found a deep interest in clinical linguistics and both the association and disassociation between language and the mind. This is when I knew I wanted to pursue a career in Speech and Language Therapy. This led to my final year Dissertation, titled: ‘A critical introduction to Constraint-Induced Language Therapy and an appraisal of its effectiveness in improving the linguistics outcomes of stroke patients with aphasia’. Since finishing University, I have worked as a Healthcare Assistant, SEN Teaching Assistant and as a Residential Worker. All of these jobs have enabled me to get experience within the healthcare industry, whilst also working with neurodivergent individuals and getting to know the world in which they live in and an insight into their minds. In January 2023 I embarked on a 3 month period travelling around South East Asia, which was an incredible opportunity whereby I saw countless amazing sights and met countless amazing people. I am so very grateful that I was in a position that I was able to do this. I am starting a new career as a Speech and Language Therapist Assistant with a Degree Apprenticeship opportunity with ESNEFT, working within the acute adult team partnered with The University of Essex. This has been my dream role for years and I am incredibly excited to get started and learn more things about the relationship between language and the mind whilst working alongside experienced SLTs.
