About Dajanae Thomas

Throughout my career, I have been fortunate to work with underprivileged and underrepresented communities and individuals to increase their chances at a stable and fair life. Youth (including juveniles), previously incarcerated individuals and those who suffer from sexual, substance and physical abuse has been my targeted focus. Within each organization I have worked for, I have worked to prepare and implement new strategic goals that are aimed towards sobriety, academic excellence, reintegration, positive coping mechanisms and the overall improvement of quality of life. To reach these results I have coordinated individual and group counseling sessions that focus on the emotional and physical traumas, how to adapt and move forward through life. Creating plans that target behavioral and cognitive issues using SMART goals to timely and effectively make corrective change I have been able to assist and help those I am working with. Combining my knowledge and relatability with my customer service skills I have been able to intervene and redirect young girls from relapsing, becoming street workers and much more. My ability to coexist in the world of those I help allow me the opportunity to connect and engage on a much deeper and passionate level. My goal is to be able to provide equitable and affordable health care access, provide and create resources that will aid in the growth of the community/individual and reduce negative societal and environmental factors. I am looking to continue community building and advocating by applying my skills to overseeing community programs and outreach that focuses on at risk individuals. This includes implementing new strategic goals to better assess risk factors, increase sobriety, provide better care, services and resources to the community.
