About Dakota Benigni

As a Mechanical Engineering student at the University of Minnesota Duluth, I am pursuing my passion for designing, testing, and improving mechanical systems and products. I am expected to graduate in May 2024 with a minor in Materials Science, which complements my interest in the properties and applications of different materials in engineering contexts.In the summer of 2023, I interned at Polaris as a Powertrain Test Engineer, where I gained valuable hands-on experience with 4-stroke development engines, Creo software, and cross-functional teamwork. I worked on various projects, such as creating a data collection method for emission lab calibration, collaborating with internal machinists to create parts for the dyno hall, and reviewing and modifying complex engine drawings. I also participated in an innovation challenge, where I pitched an idea to senior-level management, along with marketing, sales, HR, and social media colleagues. This experience enhanced my design skills, problem-solving abilities, communication skills, and strategic thinking. I also enjoyed riding side-by-sides, reflecting my enthusiasm for Polaris's products and lifestyle.
