Background

About Dale Slaferek

In my legal practice, my overarching principle is professionalism and integrity. I make recommendations and take positions based upon the law but reflecting the interests of my client which may be broader than simple legal risks or vulnerability. I approach all challenges with a sense of creative problem solving and look forward to the new opportunities those challenges bring. My practice is diverse and includes contact law, real property, constitutional law, aboriginal law and negotiations. I typically engage with stakeholders at the most senior levels of government which includes complex and intense negotiations with First Nations and corporate counsel. Most recently, I have been involved in a commercial development with a sophisticated framework on reserve lands with an estimated build out value of $4 billion and settlement of a long standing claim that received international attention valued at $500 million. I have excelled with these complex senior level files that are of national importance with significant scrutiny from multiple stakeholders. While I always look forward to new challenges in law, I find none more challenging or rewarding than those of being a parent. Specialties: negotiation, risk management, innovative legal solutions, aboriginal law
