About Daljeet Kaur

I have double master’s degree in Environment and Sustainable Development from University College of London (with a full Scholarship granted by Commonwealth Shared Scholarship Scheme and Environmental Planning from School of Planning and Architecture, New Delhi (with GATE Scholarship). I am a trained Climate Change Specialist with an overall professional experience of 15 years in the development sector. I am currently working at Save the Children UK as the Head of Climate Change, focusing on child-centric programmes that build resilience to climate change. I was working with the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development office in India as the Climate and Environment Advisor till Sept 2023. As the Climate and Environment Advisor with FCDO, I support project teams across HMG in India, especially during project design stage to identify climate change risks and opportunities, by conducting pre-design Climate Change Assessment (CCA) and ensure their alignment with FCDO’s Climate and environment strategy. At FCDO, I was the Senior Responsible Officer (SRO) for a Technical Assistance programme – Infrastructure for Climate Resilient Growth (ICRG), that aims to improve abilities of poor and vulnerable people to cope with climate change impacts by integrating climate risk management into Government of India’s (GoI) social protection programmes. I also lead the climate and environment strategic mainstreaming work across FCDO's development portfolio. Prior to joining DFID, I worked with NITI Aayog (Think Tank for Government of India) to rank states based on their performance on key social indicators in Health Water and Education sectors. I have worked in many challenging situations, led teams with diverse skill sets and managed large multi-disciplinary programmes.
