About Dalton Walker

Dalton, Red Lake Anishinaabe, is an award-winning journalist based in Phoenix. He is ICT's managing editor, digital. Dalton serves on the Journalism Funding Partner board of directors. Dalton is a speaker and presenter to various local academic institutions concerning journalism and Native youth empowerment. He served on the Native American Journalists Association board of directors from 2013-2016. Before ICT, Dalton was the senior reporter at O'odham Action News in the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community. Dalton has worked at The Gazette in Colorado Springs, Sioux Falls Argus Leader and Omaha World-Herald. Dalton also worked for the National Center for American Indian Enterprise Development as the media and content manager. He is a graduate of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. He is a Chips Quinn Scholar and a graduate of the American Indian Journalism Institute. For years, he has mentored high school and college students AIJI in Vermillion, SD and at the Native American Journalism Career Conference at Crazy Horse, near Custer, SD.
