About Damien Raynaud

Meteorologist at heart since my early childhood, I studied at the French national school of Meteorology in Toulouse and got an engineering degree in atmospheric sciences and weather forecasting in 2012. I continued my studies abroad in Greece and then in Italy,at the European commission, focusing on hydrohasards to get a second master degree. The following years were dedicated to my PhD focusing on renewable energy variability due to weather conditions. Its aim was to prove that relying on several renewable energy sources (wind+solar+hydro) can efficiently smoothen the electricity production and help meet the energy demand. I joined @Steadysun in 2018 and took charge of our SteadyMet product which provides solar power production forecasts up to 15-days in advance based on numerical weather models. Since then, I keep on improving our forecasting system by enriching our panel of weather models, implementing our own WRF forecasting and developing state-of-the-art postprocessing algorithms. With Frogcast, our scope has new been expanded. Our weather forecasts are not only dedicated to solar power but to all weather-dependent activities. It is a unique opportunity for me to make good use of my expertise in meteorology and to keep on broadening my horizons.
