About Damien Thomas

After leaving an established career and business within the music industry; I now work as an environmental scientist/consultant for Benbow Environmental. I love my job and am fortunate to be working with great people who are supportive of each other and who each bring different skills and knowledge that we utilise as a team. My job typically involves dirt and usually lots of it. I often find myself digging holes, sampling soil and or g/water and really enjoy the hands on aspect of fieldwork, which is of course critical when collecting data in order to build a solid conceptual site model. I enjoy fostering professional relationships with clients and offering solutions to their environmental problems. My personal motto is: “take pride in your work: as it is a representation of your character”. This philosophy is reflected in the way I apply myself unreservedly across my career and life, setting myself high goals and working hard to achieve them. I have a love for the natural environment, especially coasts and rivers and how these shape the land and all that reside in it. I believe that sustainability with a high standard of living is achievable, but requires significant changes in societal thinking, behaviour and political responses.
