About Damon Lucas

My name is Damon Lucas, and I am a 2017 graduate of Lock Haven University with a Bachelor of Science in Social Work. I am seeking employment at Penn State in units where I can use my interpersonal communication skills and better develop my interests in higher education administration, operations, and/or student affairs. Currently I am a case manager/counselor with State College Medical. In this position, I help set up outpatient services to meet client needs, discuss patient care options with health providers, and help patients to fight their addictions to opioids and other drugs. Previously, I worked as a ED care manager at Mount Nittany Medical center, as an in-home counselor at an intervention center called FICS Centre County and the Zerby Gap Family works Group Home, respectively. I also have worked as a volunteer track and field coach with Bald Eagle Area School District and as a soccer coach with Bald Eagle and PA West, and have completed training programs in safe crisis management, motivational interviews, healthy touch, trauma and risk assessment.From these experiences, I have gained a variety of skills that will help me in my next career opportunity. I have spent years developing my intrapersonal skills, teaching emotional coping methods, completing group planning, documenting and recording service details, and managing my time and working pace effectively. I also have demonstrated experience communicating professionally with school districts, mental health institutions, children and youth services, a juvenile probation office, and the Youth Service Bureau. I also have demonstrated experience working with diverse groups of adults and youth.In my next career move, I am looking for a position that will allow me to grow as a human services professional while also using my skills and personality to contribute to the university culture.
