About Dan Asare-Kyei
Daniel is an agricultural economist, technologist, geo-information scientist and entrepreneur. He has a unique mix of professional experience, from international development with key international NGOs to entrepreneurship to rich scientific career. He begun by working with USAID funded integrated food security program where he worked to increase productivity and promoted market access for rural farmers in Ghana and on trade and Investment program on commodity value chains. In research, he conducted a pioneering research on Post-harvest Management and Inter-regional trade using advanced remote sensing and GIS techniques. His passion is to bridge the gap between the realities of people living in the rural areas and technological innovations and has spoken widely in many international conferences promoting the digitization rural African economies. As CEO and shareholder of ESOKO, he has led one of Africa’s largest Agritech providers to develop several innovations for the African agricultural sector. Esoko’s Community Management Platform create a closed ecosystem to digitize rural supply chains and build rural digital and financial inclusion in a completely new paradigm, enabled by modern technologies in Mobile, Web, Data Analytics, Artificial Intelligence, and institutional partnerships. As an entrepreneur, he has founded two agribusinesses, Adinkra Frontiers Limited that runs sustainable poultry enterprise and Eucharia Farms Ltd, a company specializing in plantation crops and developing low-cost technologies enabled by AI for fruit and vegetable processing. Daniel is a fellow of the United Nations University and the Unreasonable Group, an awardee of 2020 Schwab Foundation for Social Entrepreneurship of the Year. He has a doctorate degree in Agricultural Economics from the University of Bonn, Germany, a double master’s degree in Geo-information Science from the University of Twente, The Netherlands, and a first-class bachelors in Agricultural Economics from Ghana’s KNUST.
