Hi! I’m a software developer with over ten years’ experience — in the UK's fastest-growing retail bank, digital agency land, a small communications technology company, plus countless hours in previous jobs, bedrooms, classrooms, and so on. I aim to combine technical insight with real-world context, all related effectively back to other developers, designers, strategists, project managers, clients, whoever is involved. I pride myself on being adaptable. The Web has been a large part of my career, partly because it's a large part of computing, but I'm perfectly at home away from the Web too. I've always tried to look "behind the curtain" of whatever I'm doing to gain a deeper understanding, and that's resulted in me being confident in a number of areas. I have experience in a variety of languages, at different levels of abstraction — from JavaScript in a browser (or otherwise) right down to C. I am also confident in Haskell and similar functional, strongly-typed languages, for another view on programming. I am forever curious about how to advance the craft of programming — but always balanced with getting to pragmatic results. I am not interested in working for companies that aren’t enthusiastically interested in diversity, or who don’t have a strong sense of ethics.
