About Dan Blumenthal

Dan M. Blumenthal, has concentrated his practice in real estate litigation since 1993, with particular emphasis on landlord-tenant litigation and the aftermath of foreclosures, including issues of holdover occupancies and building maintenance. His clients include community associations (cooperatives, condominiums and HOAs), private landlords and investors and commercial tenants. He has argued real property issues before appellate courts including New York State Supreme Court Appellate Divisions for the First and Second Departments and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. In September 2013 Dan was selected by Thomson West Publishing as the Expert Commentator for McKinney's New York Statutes Real Property Actions and Proceedings Law and Real Property Law. His commentaries are scheduled to appear commencing with the 2015 updates. In January 2009, the New York State Bar Association published," NY Residential Landlord-Tenant Law and Procedure-2008-2009" co-authored by Dan with Judge Gerald Lebovits (NYC Housing Court). Blumenthal lectures frequently on eviction after foreclosure, general landlord-tenant issues and mortgage default servicing. He is a member of the New York State Bar Association (Real Property Section) committee on landlord-tenant practice and the Nassau County Bar Association (District Court committee, incoming Vice Chairman). He received his J.D. from Yeshiva University’s Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law and served as an intern for Hon. Peter K. Leisure, U.S. District Judge for the Southern District of New York.
