I am an experienced IT Manager and Senior Software Developer with 20 years experience in full-stack software development and maintenance in the higher education sector. I have 20+ years experience turning business needs into software products, adjusting legacy software to adapt to changing business needs, and porting legacy products to contemporary platforms and implementations. I have experience with application and web application development, database design and process development on a variety of platforms across a wide scope of technologies and technology generations. I also have experience in integrating disparate systems; both between on premises systems and integration of on premise software with cloud hosted services. I am a problem solver with strong technical and analytic skills providing novel solutions to emerging problems. I have a passion for creating a positive stakeholder and user experience, while creating both technological and human efficiencies through software. My experience and educational achievements have afforded me insight into a broad range of problem domains where I have implemented solutions for many clients. Some of the many areas in which I have performed substantial work include institutional budgeting, accounting, and finance, human resources, payroll and position management, faculty workload management, course scheduling, room scheduling, student course registration, student program enrolment, grading, advising, application security, data security, data encryption, disaster recovery, and the forensic analysis of data and logs. I have an education in Computer Science from Langara College, with degrees in both Digital Media Studies and Business from Vancouver Island University. I also achieved dual masters degrees in International management and Business Administration from University of Hertfordshire and Vancouver Island University respectively.
