About Dan Cacic

Dan Cacic is a Senior Director at CIBC, a leading North American financial institution with employees providing a full range of financial products and services to 10 million clients in Canada, the United States and around the world. Dan has served in a variety of key roles in CIBC’s operational risk program, which included leading a team of risk professionals who developed a comprehensive corporate program allowing CIBC to become the first North American bank in 2008 approved by its regulator under the Advanced approach for operational risk. Dan is currently responsible for leading a team of data scientists and risk professionals who are applying advanced analytic tools which include Machine Learning models and methods from Operational Research to the operational risk domain. Prior to working in the Financial Services industry, Dan was employed as a Design and Reliability Engineer in the manufacturing sector. Dan has more than 10 years’ experience in managing technical teams in the development of complex decision support models and methodologies. A primary strength is his ability to really understand business needs and communicate to non-technical stakeholders, complex concepts and solutions, in a straightforward and simple, yet accurate manner. Dan is a licensed Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario, a CFA charter holder with an undergraduate degree in Engineering and a Master of Business Administration.
