About Dan Chapman

Dan Chapman joined the Clinical Trials Support Unit at The University of Oxford in February 2018 and is a Laboratory Researcher in the NDPH Wolfson Laboratories. Daniel studied Biomedical Science at Bangor University and was awarded his PhD in Clinical Biochemistry and Clinical Research at The University of Exeter in 2018. His current responsibilities are as follows: • Operational responsibility for assay development, optimisation and validation in the Wolfson Laboratory’s research and development department. • Deliver reliable and cost-effective biomarker analysis for large scale clinical trials and epidemiological studies within a laboratory accredited to ISO17025. • Develop, setup and manage high throughput immunoassay methods, including ELISAs, MSD, Western blot and Simple Plex assays. Developed and validated over 10 assays to CLSI guidelines. • Responsible for documentation to ensure compliance of the developed assays with regulatory and accreditation bodies and local safety regulations. • Establish methods on liquid handling systems, optimise pipetting techniques and protocols to deliver high throughput analysis and sample traceability. Responsible for monitoring assay performance. • Train and supervise laboratory staff assigned to work my projects. Vast experience of assay development enables me to effectively support the team when troubleshooting to ensure quality results are reported within the timeframe of the studies. • Collaborate with internal and external groups to design and manage research projects that meet their requirements. • Present results and updates at meetings and international conferences in person and through video calls.
