Areas I believe in: hire character, train skill; treat people well, be kind; train people so that they are equipped to do their best work; employees first, customers & stakeholders will naturally benefit; truly get to know and care about people, be their best advocate for success; lead as an honest & integral person, build up those around you to find the best version of their self; practice and advocate self care. Of course, the technical side must also be present to create productive, successful teams - the product must be developed, marketed, and sold. However, if the first focus is on the areas above, a strong foundation will be established where people thrive and have the highest enthusiasm for doing their best work. Leaders must understand that people's personal, academic, and professional pursuits have purposefully led them to the present moment, which is extremely valuable to each individual. We have a responsibility to act in service toward providing them the tools, support, and positive environment required to be successful. These are challenging but very worthwhile tasks that are essential for creating the best workplace where mutual, healthy partnerships are the norm.
