About Dan Coyle

I enjoy the challenges of advising clients on all aspects of their health and welfare plans, including developing short- and long-term strategies for minimizing trend, evaluating and selecting the right vendors to deliver the program my clients envision, helping them stay on top of Affordable Care Act changes, and leveraging Mercer's marketplace presence to negotiate the best deal possible. My team includes talented analysts, consultants, and actuaries who help me deliver data-oriented solutions in a thoughtful, concise manner to senior management and leadership. My clients are generally large organizations with more than employees. Many of them have self-funded medical plans for which my team and I forecast costs and set premium equivalent rates and contributions. Internally, I support my practice and firm by building eminence, writing industry articles, speaking to industry groups, and creating learning content. Although my specialty is the employer implications of the Affordable Care Act, I also enjoy building thoughtware that address consumer-driven strategies, private exchanges, ERISA compliance, and wellness plans. What I enjoy most is continuing to learn more about the complex employee benefits world. After 20+ years, there are still areas that fascinate me, and I'm excited by the new opportunities brought about by health reform and technology.
