About Dan Galenkamp

I'm a wordsmith. A crosser of T’s and dotter of I’s. I'm at my happiest reading, writing, copyediting, proofreading and generally thinking deeply. Okay — so I know how to flex my "metaphorical muscles." But that's not where I started. When I was 11, I biked down to the local greenhouse to ask for a job. It's been over 20 years and I'm still not sure if my thumbs will ever stop being green, the tractor grease will ever rub off my hands, or if the tan lines will ever truly disappear. In between that first job and my current job, I found work at three different non-profits: two Christian humanitarian organizations and a university. In all of these roles, my tasks gradually gravitated towards writing and communicating. I then ended up at Compass Creative, where I was a storyteller, learning about and sharing our small business clients' brand stories in creative, yet truthful, ways. Today, I'm a proposal writer at Cinnamon Toast. I love my job because of the research, analysis, and critical thinking skills required to respond to RFx documents. My role reminds me of when I was a university student cooped up in the library, writing essays on postmodernism in British novels or the importance of icons in Eastern European cultural heritage. Pairing these skills with my marketing experience has made this role a natural fit.
