About Dan Gower

Deputy Head of Prep with responsibility for leading and developing co-curricular provision, alongside a strong track record in youth rugby development and pathway building.Currently overseeing co-curricular strategy within a prep school setting, I am passionate about developing the whole child—academically, physically, and personally. My leadership focuses on creating meaningful opportunities beyond the classroom, ensuring sport and enrichment play a central role in pupil wellbeing, character development, and confidence.During my time at Stonar, I have taken on additional leadership responsibilities as Mathematics Subject Lead, reshaping the curriculum to reflect the needs of the pupils we serve. This has included adapting teaching approaches to suit different learning styles and strengthening progression across the subject. This work has been supported through cross-curricular links with Religious Education, PSHE, and Political Education. I also play an active role in the School Development Plan, identifying opportunities to further develop Political Education across the school. In addition, I am part of the wider leadership team and act as the Online Safety Officer, ensuring pupils’ use of technology is safe, responsible, and age-appropriate.Alongside my work in education, I am Head Coach of the Cobras Rugby Academy, where I have grown the programme from an Under 10 foundation through to Colts level. I have successfully helped amalgamate two clubs to create a sustainable and competitive pathway during a challenging period for grassroots rugby. My focus has been on player retention, culture, long-term development, and building strong relationships with schools, clubs, and senior teams.I have also worked within the Bath Rugby Developing Player Programme (DPP), supporting aspiring players within a professional pathway environment and gaining valuable insight into talent identification and long-term athlete development.Previously, I have held roles as an Assistant House Parent and have taught across all Key Stage 2 year groups. I have experience in both the independent and state sectors, allowing me to adapt leadership, teaching, and pastoral care across varied educational contexts.I am driven by developing young people, building strong cultures, and creating sustainable pathways that allow individuals to thrive in education, sport, and beyond.
