About Dan Herman

Began career in St. Louis, MO and worked on The Arch grounds for the National Park Service, Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery for the Veterans Administration, and Council Bluffs Recreation Area. Started new office in Austin Texas working primarily with the City of Austin Parks Department to design new neighborhood parks.Joined EDAW in 1987 to mange a project office serving the US Air Force. Became a Principal in 1987 and served as the Director Southwest Region from 1987 to 1995. Responsible for all work in Japan from 1988 to Served on the Board of Directors from 1992 to and began the Firmwide Management Committee in 1995. Project highlights include PIC of Universal's Islands of Adventure Theme Park (area development), Orlanda, FL, Warner Bros. Madrid Theme Park (area development), Madrid, Spain, Site Location Study and Master Plan for Legoland Carlsbad, Roppongi Hills, Mori Building in Tokyo, Japan, and the Strategic Plan for the Southwest Division of the Naval Facilities Engineering Command.Started Rabben/Herman design office in with former EDAW Partner William Rabben. Focus of the firm is to cultivate clients interested in creating special and unique places through design. The firm has completed award winning projects for Hoag Hospital, Saddleback Church, Etnies Skatepark, Paramount Studios, Emaar Resorts, and the Taiwan Bureau of Tourism. Personal interests are related to master planning and design of theme parks and visitor attractions. Recent projects and clients include Paramount Parks located in Asia & Europe, Harrah's LINQ in Las Vegas, Ocean Park in Hong Kong, Springfield USA/Shrek and Super Silly Fun Land at Universal Studios Hollywood, Marina Park in Newport Beach, CA, RD & E projects in Dubai, Egypt, China and Japan, Meraas Development in Dubai, Universal Studios Hollywood and the Taiwan National Palace Museum.Specialties: Master planning and Area Development design for Theme Parks, Visitor Attractions and Destination Resorts.
